Grandfathers Accidentally Switched At Hospital

LOS ANGELES—In yet another disturbing case of hospital negligence, two elderly grandfathers were accidentally switched at the Cedar-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles and sent home with the wrong families, sources reported Monday.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine how 89-year-old World War II veteran Samuel Kaminski was released to Walter Crowley’s family, while Crowley, 86, was sent to Kaminski’s home. Cedar-Sinai administrators said the mistake was discovered when Crowley was brought to the hospital for a routine checkup and doctors realized he had shrunk five inches since his last appointment, nearly six months prior. more
Thief deposits loot with victim
Three days after stealing a rare collection of coins, a thief in Germany took them to the bank for safe keeping — and delivered them into the hands of the man he had robbed.
“I don’t think the thief was expecting that,” said a spokesman for police in the western city of Dortmund on Tuesday.
Soon after the thief made the deposit, a bank worker handling the coins recognized them as the set worth some 50,000 euros ($80,000) that had been stolen from his house.
Police tracked down the 36-year-old suspect and arrested him, securing a haul of other stolen goods in the process.
Save Windows XP! The Clock is Ticking
Microsoft plans to end most sales of Windows XP
on June 30, despite a deep reluctance by many business and individuals
about moving to Vista. InfoWorld believes such an expensive,
time-consuming shift with problematic benefits should not be forced on
Windows users, so we have decided to rally XP users to demand that XP
be kept available.

Lost Prada Glasses, Brooklyn, NY
Lost Prada Glasses, Brooklyn, NY
The reading glasses pictured below were found on
Friday, March 21, 2008 on Prospect Park West, on the side of the park,
somewhere between 9th and 12th streets around 8:00 a.m.. Instead of
just leaving them there waiting to be crushed by a Bugaboo or bike, or
chewed up by a dog or pigeon, they were picked up in hopes of finding
their rightful owner. All through the magic of the internet and the
generous linkage of those interested in solving a good cause. Even if
the owner does not read this, perhaps a friend, or a friend of a friend
will.
In theory we should only receive a
single e-mail claiming ownership — the chances of two people losing
their Prada glasses outside of the park on the same day seem as
possible as being eaten by a shark and hit by lightning on the same day
— and we’ll be happy to return them. If we do get more than one reply,
we will ask for an approximate (or exact) confirmation of the
prescription; we will stop by our local optometrist later today to get
them “appraised.”
If these are your reading glasses please let us know.
